Camu Camu fruit grows along the rivers in the Peruvian Amazon region. During the rainy season the rivers rise over the shore and flood the plantations. Harvest of the berries begins end of December / beginning of January. As part of the harvest occurs during the rainy season, the majority of the plants are submerged under water, which makes for an arduous harvest by hand from the boat. Camu Camu berries are collected in a boat and then brought to a collection station, where they are immediately transported for further processing to the production site. Once they arrive they are first washed and sorted. The pulp of the fruit is separated from the seeds and then slowly dried at low temperatures and afterwards ground gently into Camu Camu powder.
